Anthropologist, Associate Professor at Ben-Gurion University, Israel, and President of the Israeli Anthropological Association. 

He specializes in the anthropology of food and the anthropology of tourism. 

For many years his research area was South-East Asia, and particularly Vietnam, where he conducted research on contemporary gastronomic and culinary cultures. 

During the recent years he has begun to conduct fieldwork in Greece, and has incorporated issues of Greek culture and identities in his teaching.
