Summary

Chryssi island is considered the emerald of the Mediterranean. The ancients called it Chrysea, because of the golden sand that adorns its beaches. It was known as a trade hub for the export of the famous purple. Scattered shells in the eastern and western part of the island, prove that the human presence on the island dates back to the Minoan era. This island has a personality made from the game of circumstances and time. These circumstances, which together form an identity, include fish and water, winds and grass, rocks and fossils, cedar forests and migratory birds, Minoan settlements and Roman tombs, the sea and human beings .
