CANYONS OF IERAPETRA
Original title: ΦΑΡΑΓΓΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΙΕΡΑΠΕΤΡΑΣ, ΣΤΑ
Documentary | 2020 | Col | 20m
Summary
Behind the crack of time, of the Pleistocene, water, air, temperature changes, earthquakes dug the earth and cut it like a knife.A wet atmosphere of fog, for millions of years, surrounds and pierces the trees, to slowly fall to the ground, watering it and joining it with the water of the rivers, which continues its erosive course, in the limestone soils, creating the today's country "of the gorges of Ierapetra". The key to the interpretation of canyons of Ierapetra is the tectonic action. When the orogeny sealed the relief of the Greek peninsula and the mountains of Crete jumped out of the sea, reaching their maximum height, pressure was exerted on some rocks which burst as a wall would crack.
