A documentary on the process of production of Diego Rivera´s Detroit Industry Frescos (1932-3) and the murals´ agitated social context during the years of the Great Depression. The documentary´s remarkable archival montage explores the links between industrial labor, public art, and industrial cinema under the exigencies of Fordism. The treatment of Rivera´s murals and Frida Kahlo´s paintings in the documentary provide novel grounds for a discussion of their art´s diverging approaches to the ecological and human effects of industrial technologies and extractivism.
